What is a low FODMAP diet?

Between 15 and 20% of the population suffers from irritable bowel syndrome or spastic colitis. This disease causes many complaints such as abdominal pain and flatulence.

FODMAP stands for "fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols." They are poorly absorbed in the small intestine, so they end up undigested in the large intestine, leading to symptoms.

A low FODMAP diet may help relieve symptoms. However, FODMAPs are numerous in our diet, think wheat, dairy, beans, all types of vegetables and fruits. Therefore, avoiding these substances in our daily diet is not easy.

We offer a wide range of functional foods such as gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, organic and high fiber products.

Many of Damhert's products are also suitable for a low FODMAP diet. In our gluten-free range you will find many products that are suitable for a low FODMAP diet, such as gluten-free bread, rice, spaghetti and some cakes. In these products, wheat has been replaced with low FODMAP varieties such as buckwheat flour, corn flour and rice flour.
